Pat Crull, group vice president and chief learning officer of Time Warner Cable (TWC), is the 2012 Chief Learning Officer of the Year. The prestigious honor, conferred by Chief Learning Officer magazine as part of its annual Learning in Practice Awards, recognizes Crull for her visionary and holistic approach to developing a high-performing workforce.
Selected by a blue-ribbon panel of her peers & eight previous CLO of the Year winners & Crull was chosen primarily for bringing big-picture thinking to the delivery of learning and leadership development at TWC. As the company’s first CLO, she built its corporate learning and development function from scratch, also taking ownership of its organizational effectiveness efforts and diversity and inclusion practices. Leveraging this powerful synergy, she aligned all three functions and implemented a systematic, strategic approach to providing learning, inclusion and leadership solutions for all of TWC’s 51,000 employees and 15,000 vendor/partners.
Her approach has enabled the company to target high-potential individuals for focused leadership development and maintain a nimble workforce that can capitalize on emerging business opportunities and manage the rapidity of technical changes in the industry.
Now in its ninth year, the CLO Learning in Practice Awards program recognizes industry leaders who have demonstrated excellence in the design and delivery of employee development programs. The magazine presents more than 60 gold, silver or bronze awards annually in two categories: practitioner and provider. Practitioner awards recognize CLOs and qualified senior learning leaders for their work on behalf of their organizations. The CLO of the Year designation is the highest practitioner honor and is awarded to the executive who best exemplifies leadership qualities, creates the vision for change in his or her organization and adds value to the stakeholders.
The 2012 Learning in Practice Awards were announced at special awards ceremonies during the Fall 2012 Chief Learning Officer Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colo., which attracted more than 300 top corporate learning executives from around the world to discuss long-term learning strategies for creating and sustaining high performance.
“The Learning in Practice awards were established to recognize transformational and visionary leaders in enterprise education,” said Norm Kamikow, president and editor in chief of MediaTec Publishing Inc., which publishes Chief Learning Officer magazine. “More than 200 top learning executives and solution providers were nominated by their peers in 15 categories. These finalists are the industry leaders who truly champion innovation and transform it into learning and value for their organizations.”
Crull and the other 2012 Learning in Practice Award winners will be featured in a special report supplement to the December issue of Chief Learning Officer magazine. For more information about the awards, visit CLOmedia.com.
