DAU President to Become Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition

The U.S. Senate has confirmed the nomination of Defense Acquisition University President Katrina McFarland to become the assistant secretary of defense for acquisition.

The U.S. Senate has confirmed the nomination of Defense Acquisition University President Katrina McFarland to become the assistant secretary of defense for acquisition.

The final step in the process is her commissioning by President Obama, who nominated McFarland in February for the post.

McFarland previously served in the Missile Defense Agency and the Marine Corps. She has served as the president of DAU since December 2010. James McMichael will serve as acting president of DAU going forward.

DAU provides training to the U.S. Department of Defense’s defense acquisition workforce and was recognized in 2011 and 2012 by Chief Learning Officer magazine as a LearningElite organization.
